Moon over Parma

Tonight I am going with my brother to see one of my comedic idols, Drew Carey, perform at Zanies. Words cannot express my excitement and joy of seeing him. I was the biggest fan of The Drew Carey Show when it was out; rekindling that love in the past two years with the purchase of season 1.

I was obsessed [not an exaggeration] with Whose Line is it Anyway when I was younger. I almost knew every line to every show because I watched them so many times. A dream of mine was to have Drew say “and 500 points to Alexa for being amazing at life.” Drew isn’t the best improviser [sorry Drew, but Colin always gets my vote] but he has the greatest laugh and just enjoys playing with everyone. He took everyone’s fat jokes and just laughed it off. Now, he’s super skinny just like Patrick Stump. I miss chubby Patrick.

The best part of Drew Carey is his revitalization of The Price is Right. Growing up, I would watch that show when we had a day off of school or I was sick. In college, I would watch it while I was on the elliptical at the fitness center. When Bob Barker was the host, the show was filled with many old people and a smattering of younglings. Now, the show is essentially a young person orgy. Who can blame Drew for the shift? He’s hysterical and lively. Always ready for a joke and never misses a beat. I love how exuberant the contestants are when they hug or kiss him. He always seems so uncomfortable or caught off guard. He best be ready for me to bear hug him tonight.

Enjoy this video that includes two of my favorite things: Pancakes and Drew Carey.
