Things I have learned since being sick

So being sick for 12 days is not a fun thing. Not eating when taking antibiotics is the worst thing I could have done to my stomach. Thanks brain for the only time you’re not thinking about food is when you need to. I digress. Things I have learned while being sick.

I cry a lot. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but when it gets bad, the ugly tears start ‘a comin’. I am also not above whimpering like a broken dog and dramatically sighing.

I’m really good at watching the Game Show Network. I lost count how many episodes I watched of Family Feud. More frustrating is how many times I won Fast Money and yet will never see the check from my efforts. I also got really into Chain Reaction. People on that show are super slow and dumb. I usually have half the board done by the time they realize it’s Parking Ticket not Parking Tiger.

I have a lot of people who really care about my well-being. I knew this, but it was humbling to realize how many people in my life love me.

I need a new job. Not a surprise but not once did I devote any time or attention to what I was missing at the office. Guess what, it was nothing.

Health is not something to take for granted. I already knew this but being sick reinforced the fact that I need to not let my body “work things out on their own” when I know something is wrong.

Eating oatmeal. Oy is oatmeal like glue when you need to get it down. Usually I can clean the bowl in a few minutes, but not when I’m sick. Nope. Just sticks to your throat like broken dreams and peanut butter.

I really like the movie Pitch Perfect. I watched it a lot. Kind of too much. I want to watch it again. Need singing voices in my life.

Overall I am feeling much better. Kind of wish the weekend was closer than it is, but it’s nice to get out of the house every day. Hope everyone is happy and healthy.
